Alyson's Five--Haiti.

Since one of my Fives is to commit random acts of charity, when news of the earthquake in Haiti spread, my husband and I immediately sent in donations to both The Red Cross and Unicef—money that will go toward the purchase of much needed food, water, shelter, medical supplies, and other necessities for those who were left devastated by the effects.

And even though it feels like such a small act in light of so much destruction, any time anyone lends a hand to another, a difference is made.

Disaster can strike any of us, at any time, in any way. We are all in this together, and there are no small acts when it comes to kindness and charity.

If you’re interested in donating too, (no amount is too small!), click HERE for a list of charities and instructions on how to reach them.

Peace be with you!

  1. You are right Alyson, and one can’t say it enough, there are no “small” acts of kindness!!! LOVE, even in the form of donating money or bottled water is the most amazing gift and it can’t keep a broken spirit from falling apart. Thanks again Aylson for “stepping up to the plate”! Spread the love people!

  2. So heartbreaking! I took advantage of Red Cross Text 2 Help program. By texting HAITI to 90999 a $10 donation will be added to my phone bill this month. What could be easier?

  3. You're awesome, Alyson. I think whoever came up with texting HAITI to 90999 is absolutely brilliant. Easy, fast and immediate response. Now that's changing the world, especially for those who need it most right now.

  4. Thank you Alyson for helping Haiti and posting about it! I too texted HAITI to 90999, it is so effective and so many people can do it. One of the great things about technology.

Today I gave blood which also helped. They told me that the need for people to donate blood is more urgen than ever because the hospitals in Haiti are so poorly equipped right now. So if you can donate blood, please do! Visit the RedCross website for more info.
